HONDA SELF BALANCING BIKE EXPLAINED

Hi friends, it’s Biswanath Bai with a new interesting topic i.e. Honda Self Balancing. First of all, if you don’t what are the methods to build a Self-Balancing bike, then you must read that. Here in this topic, I going to explain “How Honda Self Balancing Bike Works”. So let’s start….

Before some months Honda announced their self-balancing bike.They also showed that their bike is also able to follow a person by itself without anyone sitting on the bike. Honda this bike doesn’t use weight shifting effect or any gyroscopic device. They introduce a new technology & they call this technology as “Honda Riding Assist”. This bike actually uses 3 new technology i.e.

1.    Steer by wire System
2.    Variable Slant Angle System
3.    Steering motor & computer control system.

Steer By Wire System

     This system uses some wires fitted with a steering motor which is controlled by a computer system. When the bike will try to tilt the sensor will detect it & will inform the computer system which will then control the steering angle automatically by this wire technology according to the trail angle of the bike at that particular time.

Variable Slant Angle System

      The bike is designed in such a way that. It is able to change the trail length of bike instantly at any time (on the way or steady).

Steering Motor

       These are the motors use to change the steering axis. That motor is connected with some wires & controlled with a computer system.

How the bike really works?

       Actually, the bike works really simple but very technical.The bike uses +ve trail length in high speed & changes to –ve trail length at a lower speed.

       Suppose the bike is running on higher speed & using +ve trail length. Now in this system, if the will try to tilt the sensor will detect it & inform the computer controller which will then take control of steering & will turn the steering to the opposite to the tilting direction due to +ve trail length. This will control the bike from falling.

     Now if the bike is running on low speed the system will take control over manual control. This will change the trail length from +ve to –ve because –ve trail length higher stability at lower speed. Now of the bike will try to tilt the process will go on the same as in higher speed. But instead of turning the steering to opposite direction, the computer system will turn the steering towards the direction of falling due to –ve trail length. The will control the bike from falling.     According to Honda, the bike also has the facility to trace a man automatically.

Benefits of Honda Riding Assist

  •    The biggest benefit is “This technology will not affect the manually riding experience of rider”.
  •     This technology will definitely help new rider so effectively.
  •     With this technology, the rider doesn't have to care about bike stand as the bike will never fall.


Also, the bike has some disadvantages but not known yet. After the lunch & use the advantages and disadvantages can be determined.
